The fully operable shutters manufactured by Atlantic Premium Shutters are composite shutters made to withstand the elements and provide a low-maintenance alternative to historically accurate wooden shutters. Available in styles to fit homes in any region – from classic colonials to Caribbean bungalows – and crafted with an eye for historical detail. Each shutter is custom made to fit your specific windows, and built strong to be functional and maintenance-free. Custom cut-outs are available upon request.

PART  1  GENERAL

1.3     SUBMITTALS

  1. Submit under provisions of Section 01300.
  2. Shop Drawings: Show materials, layout, dimensions, profiles, fasteners and anchors, hardware, finishes, and interface with adjacent construction.
  3. Product Data: Manufacturer’s data sheets on each product to be used, including:
    1. Preparation instructions and recommendations.
    2. Storage and handling requirements and recommendations.
    3. Installation methods.

** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Delete selection samples if colors have already been selected.

  1. Selection Samples: For each finish product specified, two complete sets of color chips representing manufacturer’s 40 standard colors.
  2. Verification Samples: For each finish product specified, two samples, minimum size 6 inches (150 mm) square, representing actual product, color, and textures.

1.4     QUALITY ASSURANCE

  1. Thermal Stability: Fiberglass louvers and side rails thermally stable from minus 100 degrees F (minus 38 C) to 200 degrees F (93 C).

1.5     DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING

  1. Deliver materials to site in manufacturer’s original, unopened packaging, with labels clearly identifying product name and manufacturer.
  2. Store products in manufacturer’s unopened packaging until ready for installation.
  3. Store materials in a clean, cool and dry area in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions. Do not leave unopened shutters in direct sunlight.
  4. Protect materials during handling and installation to prevent damage.

1.6     PROJECT CONDITIONS

  1. Maintain environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, and ventilation) within limits recommended by manufacturer for optimum results. Do not install products under environmental conditions outside manufacturer’s absolute limits.

1.7     WARRANTY

  1. Provide with a limited lifetime warranty on structural components and manufacturers defects and factory applied finish. Warranty is limited to the original purchaser.

Finished Raised Panel is 1 inch (26 mm) thick. Shutters are finished with two part urethane paint, oven cured.

PART  3  EXECUTION

3.1     EXAMINATION

  1. Do not begin installation until substrates have been properly prepared.
  2. If substrate preparation is the responsibility of another installer, notify Architect of unsatisfactory preparation before proceeding.
  3. Commencement of work will imply acceptance of substrate.

3.2     PREPARATION

  1. Clean surfaces thoroughly prior to installation.
  2. Prepare surfaces using the methods recommended by the manufacturer for achieving the best result for the substrate under the project conditions.

3.3     INSTALLATION

  1. Install in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions and with no fasteners through the face of the shutters.
  2. Adjust operable units for smooth unobstructed operation.
  3. Melton Classics ProSeries Shutters require a light sanding using a 360 grit sandpaper prior to top coat application to achieve proper paint adhesion.

3.4     PROTECTION

  1. Protect installed products from damage by weather and other work until Date of Substantial Completion.
  2. Touch-up and repair damaged products before Date of Substantial Completion.
