Yes, we measure columns by their overall height including capital and base. Many exterior columns are designed so that the base passes through the capital and base, however, some are constructed so that the capital sits atop the shaft, and the shaft sits atop the base. On both types of column construction, we measure, quote and manufacture your columns based on overall height.
