Wood Columns are a specialty at Melton Classics. We carry on the old world tradition of manufacturing quality built wood columns crafted with the finest clear woods with superior quality. Our Melton Classics ClassicWood™ series of Architectural Grade exterior wood columns are crafted with care from the finest rot resistant Western Red Cedar or Clear All Heart Redwood. These columns are then treated against rot, weather and moisture protected during our multi-step finishing process. You can order our Interior wood columns for both paint or stain applications. Our “Stain” grade columns are built to the Architectural Woodworking Institute’s rigorous Custom Grade standards ensuring the finest quality.
Our wood columns are manufactured from the finest woods available and glued with Type I waterproof glue, and allowed to cure for more than 24 hours. The wood column shaft is then precision turned using our CNC lathe combined with the hands-on expertise of our woodworking artisans with decades of experience.
Our “paint” grade columns are hand sanded to a fine smooth finish between applications of two coats of exterior primer. Each exterior column shaft is coated throughout its entire length on the interior with Asphaltum paint. This is an important moisture protection step to prevent rot that our competitors don’t provide. After manufacturing, your beautiful architectural wood columns are then carefully packaged in protective crating for safe shipping to your project location.

Our wood columns are available in round or square styles with entasis tapered or non-tapered shafts in smooth or fluted designs.
